Job Summary
SuperATV wasn’t born in a boardroom. It started with one mission: build parts that riders can trust. The same hands-on, do-it-yourself mindset still drives everything we do. Our fast paced and casual work environment is highly focused on “Working to Wow” our customers, community, and employees.
The Test Engineer plays a critical role in validating the performance, durability, and safety of SuperATV’s ATV/UTV aftermarket products. This position is 70% hands-on testing and 30% analysis/documentation, focusing on both lab-based validation and field testing under extreme conditions. The engineer will design and execute test plans, set up and monitor instrumentation, and collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure our parts withstand the toughest demands of off-road riding.
Primary Duties
-Develop and execute validation test plans for ATV/UTV components including axles, portal gear lifts, suspension components (A-arms, tie rods, ball joints, steering links), windshields, cab enclosures, winches, and mounting brackets.
-Design and build custom test fixtures and rigs for durability, fatigue, torsion, vibration, and environmental testing.
-Operate and maintain mechanical test rigs and data acquisition systems (strain gauges, accelerometers, load cells, tensile testers, etc.).
-Conduct off-road field testing on test tracks and in real-world riding conditions to evaluate performance, safety, and reliability.
-Collect, analyze, and interpret test data using acquisition software and analysis tools (MATLAB, Minitab, Python, Excel).
-Document results and prepare clear, detailed test reports with recommendations for design and process improvements.
-Collaborate with product development engineers to provide design feedback and support iterative prototyping.
-Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards (ASTM, ISO, SAE, DOT) and internal safety requirements.
-Contribute to continuous improvement of test procedures, lab practices, and equipment capabilities.
Qualifications
-Strong hands-on mechanical aptitude with familiarity in fabrication, welding, machining, and plastics manufacturing.
-Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret GD&T; CAD proficiency (SolidWorks preferred).
-Experience with instrumentation and data acquisition systems (e.g., National Instruments, LabVIEW, or equivalent).
-Understanding of fatigue, durability, environmental, and safety testing principles.
-Strong analytical skills with the ability to transform raw test data into actionable engineering insights.
Education / Experience
-Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related field (preferred).
-1–3 years of product testing, validation, or quality engineering experience in automotive, powersports, or related industries.
-Direct experience validating mechanical components in real-world or lab-based environments strongly preferred.
