PRIMARY FUNCTION:

This is a key position in the day-to-day operations of the Company. Duties include managing a group of assigned trucks (up to 50 units) to provide operating profits to the company while meeting customer expectations and balancing the income needs of the drivers. This position reports directly to the TCC Dispatch Manager.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include but not limited to: profitability and productivity of your assigned assets, upholding all areas of safety including DOT compliance and HOS rules and understanding and meeting customer expectations, TCC commitments, and track performance. Responsible for building trusting relationships with drivers and controlling operational costs. Ensure equipment is available for preventative maintenance schedules while balancing driver’s home-time and miles to keep a full, productive fleet.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

-Book drivers– do all appropriate computer work and ensure drivers have all information necessary to make a successful trip.
-Ensure that all ready-mix concrete products are readily available and prepared for pickup.
-Monitor weekly fleet productivity.
-Coach low performers as necessary to hit company goals and objectives.
-Protect our assets by managing your fleet safely.
-Monitor driver HOS and miles will help ensure we operate within the scope of the DOT regulations.
-Utilize a computerized dispatch system (DP&C /Green Road).
-Responds to customer in-bound orders in a call center environment.
-Respond promptly by telephone and/or email to the truck orders.
-Dispatches trucks according to the daily workload forecast.
-Research/resolve inquiries and log all calls.
-Communicates appropriate options for resolution to truck needs in a timely manner.
-Inform requesters about trucks availability and helps assess trucking needs.
-Provide assistance with safety training and provide troubleshooting support to drivers.
-Prepare standard reports for management to track truck activity.
-Assists in planning and implementing department goals and makes recommendations to management to improve safety and efficiency of trucking fleet.
-Communicate effectively with drivers, yard spotters, management and customers regularly.
-Manage driver vehicle inspection reports.
-Work with HR and the DOT Compliance Departments Coordinating random and post-accident drug testing.
-Be proactive to ensure the satisfaction of all stakeholders and to ensure TCC is a valued business partner, by providing premium level customer service;
-Act as a liaison between drivers, Internal & External customers and KHI management.
-Take personal ownership and pride in your fleet. See that operational issues are resolved to the satisfaction of the driver and customer.
-Apply personal ethics, honesty, initiative, and flexibility in carrying out job responsibilities.
-Requires you to fill in for Batchman/Plant Manager and be able to batch concrete as requested.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

-High school graduate, G.E.D., or equivalent studies/experience (preferred)
-Prior ready-mix dispatching experience of 1-2 years (preferred)
-Must have 1-2 years of Concrete Batching experience
-Must have knowledge of ACI testing procedures for concrete, ACI Level I and II Certification or must obtain within first year of employment
-Prior plant operator experience of 2 -5 years (preferred)
-Mandatory knowledge of any form of dispatching system (Command, Keystone, etc.)
-Must know and understand DOT rules and regulations
-Knowledge of customer service principles and practices
-Excellent communication skills and professional personal presentation
-Excellent organizing; planning, and customer service orientation
-Great attention to detail and stress tolerance
-Proficient knowledge of Microsoft products preferred; and
-Must be willing to work weekends and extended hours.
-Pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check
-Pass a pre-employment “Fit for Work” physical
-Be able to provide valid documentation for the I-9 Immigration document
-Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and the general public at all times
-Be willing to travel and work away from home when required
-Report to work at the designated start time
-Be able to work overtime when required
-Be willing to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold
-Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook
-Have the willingness to work in a team environment and assist co–workers or supervisors with other duties as required; and
-Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and / or MSHA.
