Job Description
The Financial Services Department works in collaboration with nine technical divisions, various service departments, and the Director’s Office to deliver accounting and financial services to MIT Lincoln Laboratory. The Department ensures that the Laboratory's financial and business processes are in compliance with the U.S. Air Force Prime Contract and U.S. Office of Management and Budget Uniform Guidance 2 CFR § 200 (the government Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards).
The Financial Accounting Group is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Assistant with knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Reporting to the Accounts Payable Leader, the individual will be a self-starter, executing job responsibilities independently and as part of a team.
Duties and Responsibilities
-Process and pay invoices for assigned external vendors and internal
requests.
-Identify, create and monitor SAP Workflow items for problem invoices and invoice approvals.
-Serve as backup for other AP Team members when needed.
-Support various DCAA and PWC audit data requests.
-Make a significant contribution to current finance projects (including GR/IR accrual accounting,
adoption of new invoicing software)
-Demonstrate Service Excellence in all interactions with internal and external customers
-Support the implementation/upgrade of financial systems.
-Assist with other general accounting tasks or projects as assigned
-Support the Manager of Accounts Payable and other responsibilities as needed.
Requirements
-Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Accounting
-At least two years of experience in an Accounts Payable role
-Ability to demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills
Strong attention to detail
-Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work successfully as a member of a team
-Microsoft Office Products proficiency, strong Excel skills
-Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP system is highly preferred
